introduction
How do we act when we see some unfamiliar object? We start to examine it. It means, we mentally divide object into parts and we compare these parts to the object we are familiar with. In other words, we analyse an object’s form.
Each object can be replaced by a simpler form of combination of simple shapes.
What for? Theare are many applications, for example, if you wish:
• to convey the image and size of the object,
• to calculate the volume or the surface area,
• to design an object’s surface,
• to create a computer model etc.
Let's start with the simplest geometric images (see video).

Because not all of the simple geometric shapes were in the video, test your knowledge.

If the test is passed, we will begin to examine the volume figures.
